Did you catch our breakout session at Insights? Here’s what you missed

A speaker on the INSIGHTS by Omnium stage presenting to a full auditorium

Whether you were in the room or not, we’ve got you covered! Our breakout session, How to maximize your value with Omnium, had one goal: helping you get even more out of the Omnium solution you already have. Here are the highlights.

Starting where it matters: in front of the customer

Instead of opening with routing rules and configuration, we started at the moment of purchase; in Omnium Fashion, a demo webshop where everything comes straight from Omnium in real time.

  • Markets and stores: Local prices, currency and assortment per market, and live stock per store for Click & Collect.
  • Smart merchandising: Campaigns, colour options and “Complete the look” recommendations, all managed directly in Omnium.
  • Build your outfit: One outfit at one package price for the customer. In Omnium, it becomes three separate items to reserve, pick and ship.
  • Live Cart: Customer service can adjust the price directly in the customer’s active cart, with no coupon code needed.
  • Live delivery preview: Checkout shows exactly how the order will be split and delivered before it’s placed.

A look at the new allocation engine (Beta)

Allocation decides where each order line ships from. Until now, complex setups could require 10–15 workflow steps that were hard to change and hard to trace. The new allocation engine replaces them with one configurable step:

  • Rules: what the engine must and must not do.
  • Settings: where it may look for stock.
  • Profiles: what it optimises for: cost, speed, fewest parcels or emissions.

Every decision shows why. You can simulate it on your own orders without changing anything, and go live per market or order type when you’re ready. Technical Documentation coming soon.

All customer communication in one place

With Cases, our new customer service feature, customer inquiries, issues and requests are gathered in one place. Each case can be linked to the customer, the order, the cart and the products involved, so your team has the full picture. And off course; it support internal and public notes, email and SMS notifications, and attachments. The dashboard gives you an overview of all your cases. From insights to sales

Last but not least, we turned to reporting and promotions. We showed dashboards, order line analysis and custom reports that give you the data you need. We then went through how to set up promotions, price lists and campaigns, and how to follow up on what actually drives sales. What’s next?

Our advice is simple: pick one thing you saw and try it in your test environment. Some features may require access to be enabled in your test environment. Please contact support or your CSM for assistance.

Q&A

You asked, we answered

You sent in lots of great questions during the session, and we didn’t get to answer them all on the spot. So we’ve gathered them in a Q&A.

11 questions answered

Can customers get the link to the Omnium fashion store to use as inspo for building our features to Frondend? (Such as pick up in store features.)

Yes, Omnium-customers can access the Omnium fashion store for inspiration. Please contact Customer Service or your CSM to request access, and we will share the link with you.

Is there any benefit to using price lists if prices are not going to be edited directly in the Omnium GUI?

No. Price list functionality is primarily useful when you want to edit or create prices, or manage their publication in Omnium.

Can a price list be assigned to only one customer?

Currently, this is not supported. However, a price list can be linked to a customer group. As a workaround, you can create a customer group containing only one customer. If you have extensive use of customer-specific pricing, we recommend considering storing these prices in a separate index, as this can provide better performance for products with a large number of unique prices.

Rule-based promotions – Are all rules based on product attributes, or can other criteria also be used? Such as payment method or delivery method.

Since rule-based promotions are price-generating promotions, only product context is available when prices are generated. In other words, order attributes are not available in the product selection rules. If this is a requirement, we would be happy to receive more details about the use case so we can assess whether there is a meaningful way to support it or identify an alternative solution.

Do you plan to introduce auto refresh for the dashboard?

Not something currently on the roadmap, but may be something we implement in the future.

For replacement orders, a return document is usually needed to ensure the correct accounting. However, in some cases, the customer should discard the item rather than return it. How can this be handled?

This is an option you select when creating the replacement order. You can choose whether a return document should be generated or whether only a replacement item should be sent.

Is there a “notification bell” planned for the main page, so users don’t have to manually go to “My Profile” to keep themselves updated on things like mentions?

We have a gadget that can be added to the dashboard to display “My Mentions”. We can also consider introducing global notifications in the future.

Is there an “Unassigned” list of inquiries where it has not been possible to match the customer to an order?

We have added this filter in the test environment. It will be available in production on Tuesday, 27 October.

When does the “cases” function go live?

The Cases function is already live. Docs: https://docs.omnium.no/docs/Customer/Cases Please contact Customer Service or your CSM for assistance.

Allocation based on stock turnover?

This is something that is not part of first version of allocation engine, but something we can look into implementing in a later phase.

Can we preflight the allocation?

If you would like to test the allocation engine, please submit a request to our Support team. They will be happy to assist you with the next steps.

Thank you to everyone who joined our breakout session!
